WATERLOO — Lyle E. Hendren, 82, of Waterloo, died Thursday, May 9, 2013, at Allen Memorial Hospital.

He was born July 27, 1930, in Manchester, son of Orville and Opal Lumley Hendren. He married Judith Ann Sievers on June 1, 1968, in Galena, Ill.

He graduated from high school in Nashua in 1948. Mr. Hendren worked for Ringle Express for 27 years as regional manager, he was owner and operator of Dixiana Motor Lines until sold in 1990, he was then operations manager for Regional Transit for over 3 years. He also had owned Hendren Rubber Stamp Co. from 1963 to 1975 and worked part-time at Zephyr Transport from 1994 to 2009. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was past president of both Crossroads Rotary and QB Flying Club.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Stephen, and Greg (Linda) of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Sue (Rick Herold) Hendren of Cedar Rapids and Sheri Henning of Webb City, Mo.; a brother, Bill (Linda) of Dumont; two sisters, Gladyce Maloney of Jacksonville, Ore., and Georgia (Tom) Bankson of Dubuque; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, LaVern Sievers of West Point, Neb.; and a sister-in-law, Jerri (Dave) Fullner of Wisner, Neb.

Preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Sandra Ayers; his father-in-law, Alvin Sievers; a daughter-in-law, Bobbye Hendren; and a brother-in-law, Jim Sievers.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church under the auspices of Immanuel Lutheran Church, with burial in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Oelwein. Visitation from 3 to 6 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church or to the family.

Lyle enjoyed flying, boating, golf, traveling, and winters in Cape Coral, Fla.
