WATERLOO — Gary Gene Slick, 55, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, May 9, 2013, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy, Hiawatha.

He was born June 6, 1957, in Waterloo, son of Wilbur and Eloise Rave Slick. He married Michelle Van Dresar on Nov. 14, 1999, in Las Vegas.

He graduated from Cedar Falls High School and Hawkeye Tech before a 25 year career at Bob Mickey Chrysler Dodge.

Survived by his wife; a son, Joseph of Las Vegas; three daughters, Tracy (Dan) Mesmer of Bettendorf and Melissa (DD) Rizzio and Danielle Brockmeyer, both of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren, Sydney Slick, Amery and Kyla Mesmer, Eli Rizzio and Cayden Groves; two brothers, Steve (Pat) of Waterloo and Duane of Providence, R.I.; a sister, Lenora Slick of Cedar Rapids; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul Owen and Brian Kent; and a sister, Clarice Joy Slick.

Graveside services: 2 p.m. today at Morgan Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement, rural Tama. A traditional wake and a Native American church service took place Saturday at the Myron Wanatee residence on the Meskwaki Settlement, rural Tama. Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo, is assisting with the arrangements.

Gary enjoyed fishing, camping, the Minnesota Vikings, and spending time with his family and friends.
