WATERLOO — Ingeborg L. “Inge” Loftus, 81, of Waterloo, died at home Saturday, May 11, 2013, after a brief battle with cancer.

She was born Feb. 20, 1932, in Stuttgart, Germany, daughter of Eugene and Lydia Zeininger Lotz. She married James E. Loftus on Aug. 25, 1954, in Stuttgart, Germany. He died Dec. 28, 2006.

Mrs. Loftus was employed in the cafeteria at Sacred Heart Elementary School and was later employed as a custodian with Waterloo Community Schools, retiring in May 1994.

Survived by two sons, Tim (Ruth) of Deep River, Conn., and Mike (Tammy) of Waterloo; three daughters: Annette (Kim) Elliott of Waterloo, Doreen (Jeff) Bartling of Sarasota, Fla., and Renee (Pat) Wardlow, also of Waterloo; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Horst (Hanna) Erhardt and Heinz Erhardt, both of Germany.

Preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Albert Erhardt; and her infant son, James “Jimmy.”

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.
