CEDAR FALLS — Russell L. Kidder, 93, of Maquoketa, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Crestridge Nursing Home.

He was born May 27, 1919, in Verina, son of Charles F. and Irene Titus Kidder. He married Hazel Putnam April 18, 1939 in Newell. She preceded him in death in 1996.

Mr. Kidder was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He worked for John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works, retiring in 1974.

Survived by: two sons, Terry of Spirit Lake and Merlyn of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; a daughter, Cheryl Penne Meyers of Newport Beach, Calif.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Merle Phillips, of Wheaton, Ill., and Yvonne Waller of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by four infant sons; three brothers; and six sisters.

Graveside services: 3 p.m. Tuesday at Fairfield Township Cemetery, Albert City, with military rites conducted. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.
