Joseph Murray, 78, died Thursday afternoon at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Weinberg near Greene.

Mr. Murray had lived in Waterloo from 1913 until seven years ago. He was a fireman in the boiler room at the Rath Packing Co. until his retirement. Then he moved to Greene to live with his daughter.

He was born at Moville, Ireland, on Jan. 1, 1883, came to the United States in 1912, and worked as a farm hand near Reinbeck. He married Miss Jeannie Gallagher of Londonderry, Ireland, in 1913 at Waterloo. They made their home in Waterloo following their marriage. He wife died in 1947. He as a member of St. John's parish.

Funeral services will be 9:30 a. m. Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church here. The Rev. Richard Kuhn will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. The body is at Reid-Hamilton Funeral chapel, Greene.

Survivors include Joseph, Jr., address unknown; four daughters: Mrs. Mary Carpenter, Yelm, Wash., Mrs. Mabel Lavenz, Morocco, Ind.; Mrs. Nora Zahiler, Pueblo, Colo.; Mrs. Weinberg of Greene; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
