Services for John J. Rooff Sr., 89, of 412½ W. Fourth St., will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Mr. Rooff died Wednesday morning at Allen Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 15, 1894, at Constantine, Bulgaria, and came to the United States as a youth. He married Gladys Ackerman of Waterloo in 1913 and was a contractor in the area for 50 years.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Don Paulsen of 1165 South Hills Drive; four sons: John "Bus" Rooff Jr. of 445 LaPorte Road, Harold "Hap" Rooff of 1354 Prospect Blvd., J. L. "Pat" Rooff of 401 Gladys St., and Leo P. Rooff of 510 Frederic Aye.; a brother, Nick of Bulgaria; a sister, Anna Yordanoff pf 2108 Hawthorne Ave.; and 23 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and six great-greatgrandchildren.

The family will receive friends after 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Parrott & Wood Funeral Home, where there will be a Scripture service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to John Rooff Park in care of the Waterloo Park Commission.
