LA PORTE CITY—Helen Hilton Nabholz, 89, of 12 Bruce Lane, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, from complications of renal failure.

She was born Aug. 5, 1912, in rural Brandon, daughter of Roscoe B. and Bessie DeLong Potter. She married Charles Hilton April 4, 1942, in Missouri, and he died July 5, 1977. She married Frank Nabholz Nov. 28,1979, in La Porte City; and he died March 18, 1983.

She attended Southern Business College, Miami, Fla., State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, Upper Iowa College, Fayette, and the University of Iowa, Iowa City. She was a teacher in the rural schools in Buchanan County and Black Hawk County for six years, taught seven years in Brandon and 20 years for the La Porte City schools, retiring in 1969.

Survived by three nieces: Mary Harper and Carol Ellison, both of Cedar Falls, and Bonnie Hooyman of Winfield, Ill.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Ramona Kay Hilton; and a sister, Catherine Ahrens.

Graveside services: 2 p.m. Friday at Brandon Cemetery, Brandon. There will be no visitation. Huisman Funeral Home, La Porte City, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to St. Paul United Methodist Church, La Porte City, or the Dialysis Unit at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo.
