Jeanne Dorothy Brown

November 10, 1917 - March 14, 2008

Jeanne D. Brown, age 90, of Waterloo, Iowa, died on Sunday, February 3, at Ravenwood Nursing & Rehab Center.

She was born on November 10, 1917, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Ray O. and Dorothy Peterson Berry. She married James Leslie Brown August 30, 1941, in Waterloo. He died March 27, 1996.

Jeanne was a loving wife mother and homemaker. The Waterloo/Cedar Falls Courier was an integral part of Jeannes life and family. Her grandfather Arthur W. Peterson was treasurer and general manager of the Waterloo Evening Courier at the time of his death on September 25, 1924. Jeanne's two sons, David Leslie Brown and Douglas Richard Brown, both worked for the Waterloo Daily Courier at or near the time of their deaths. David who died on June 8, 1997, worked as a reporter and editor for the Des Moines Register and the Waterloo Daily Courier. Douglas who died July 26, 2002, was copy editor at the Waterloo Daily Courier.

Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Mary Louise Brown, of Sante Fe, New Mexico; her two granddaughters, Christie (John) Moran of Houston Texas, and Sarah (Casey) Dodd of Des Moines.

Memorial Services will be on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to West High School Scholarship Fund.
