CEDAR FALLS - Audrey K. Freitag, 82, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, July 31, 2009, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo.

She was born Jan. 17, 1927, in Hubbard, daughter of Louis Ernest and Besse Elizabeth Broer Kasischke. She married Arnold J. Freitag on Sept. 3, 1949, in Eldora.

She was a graduate of New Providence Consolidated Schools, received her BS degree in education from Valparaiso University and completed additional studies at Florida State University and the University of Northern Iowa.

She was a nutritionist for Beech Nut Baby Food, Chicago; was home economist for Iowa State Extension Service, Grundy County; taught school in the Sarasota Florida school district; and was a teacher at Cedar Falls High School for 20 years, retiring in 1994.

She was librarian for 35 five years at St. John Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls. She was a member of PEO Chapter R, several bridge clubs, and enjoyed traveling, researching family genealogy, reading and sewing.

Survived by her husband; three daughters: Judy (Dave D'Arcy) Freitag of Evanston, Ill., Ruth (Edward) Lovas of College Station, Texas, and Amy (Victor) Cactus of Las Vegas; six grandchildren: Matthew, Justin and Arlen D'Arcy of Evanston, and Karina, Cameron and Kyle Lovas of College Station; and a brother, Dale (June) Kasischke of Hubbard.

Preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Janet Louise Freitag; a sister, Doris Kasischke; a brother, Dean Kasischke; and a nephew, Harold Kasischke.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, with burial at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hubbard Cemetery, Hubbard. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church Library, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established at St. John Lutheran Church
