Michael Lee Scarbrough was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on February 8, 1966, to Hal Scarbrough and Constance Erickson Scarbrough. He died at the home of his parents on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 after a lengthy illness.

At the age of three, the family moved to Cedar Falls where he attended public school. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1984 and from the University of Iowa with a degree in Economics. Before becoming ill, he worked for two brokerage houses in Des Moines and in advertising sales. Mike was an avid reader, and especially enjoyed reading history. He also enjoyed movies and attending Iowa Hawkeyes and UNI Panthers basketball and football games.

Mike is survived by his parents of Cedar Falls and sister, Lisa, of Urbandale. He is also survived by his aunt and uncle, Karen and Jerry Thomas of Central Point, OR; aunt, Audrey Lakoduk of Minot, ND; paternal aunt and uncle, Ray and Ellen Curtis, also of Minot; and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Hal Scarbrough, and his great grandfather, Lee Scarbrough, both of Amarillo, TX and his maternal grandparents, Adolph and Murranda Erickson, of Minot, ND.
