LA PORTE CITY — William "Bill" Pearson, 79, of 507 Chestnut St., formerly of 106 Pleasant Drive, died Tuesday, May 28, at Cedar Valley Hospice House, Waterloo, of. cancer.

He was born Feb. 21, 1923, in Colfax, son of Ernest E. and Marjorie E. Boyd Pearson. He married Maxine J. Trunkey on June 12, 1948, in Waterloo.

Mr. Pearson attended both the University of Iowa and Iowa State University. He served in the U.S. Air Corps during World War II, serving as a flight officer in the European and Asiatic theaters. He worked for 20 years as vice president and sales manager for Black Hawk Seed Farms, La Porte City, and for 24 years as a manufacturer representative for grain drying and storage equipment

Survivors include his wife; two sons, John W of Rockford and Joel T. of Cedar Rapids; and five grandsons.

Preceded in death by a brother, James; and a sister Mary McKnight.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, La Porte City, with inurnment at 2 p.m. Friday in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery, Waterloo. Military rites will be conducted by La Porte City American Legion San Diego Post 207 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Normandy Post 3983. Huisman Funeral Home, La Porte City, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or the La Porte City Golf Club.
