Cedar FallsFred was born February 18, 1932, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Leslie James and Lily Mae (Huskins) Grattan. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1950. He served in the Iowa National Guard from 1951-54.
On January 18, 1952, he was united in marriage to Charlene Fae Johnson in Cedar Falls. Fred worked as an auto salesman in the metro area for 40 years, retiring from Holdiman Motors in 2000. Following retirement, he worked part-time at University Motors.
Survived by his wife, Charlene of Cedar Falls; sons, Rick (Vickie) Grattan of Harrison, AR and Terry Grattan of Dike; daughter, Lori (Steve) Tiedt of Denver; granddaughters, Sarah (Matt) Simmons of Everton, AR, Jennifer (Ryan) Winkle of Springfield, MO, and Mallory Tiedt of Denver; grandsons, Eric (Dallas) Grattan of Cedar Falls and Ben Tiedt of Denver; and great grand-daughter, Hattie Simmons of Everton, AR.
Fred died Saturday, September 10, 2005, at the Cedar Falls Healthcare Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
