WATERLOO — Maxine R. Wagner, 96, of Waterloo, died Sunday, April 21, 2013, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born July 9, 1916, in Independence, daughter of John and Gertrude Netcott Jochumsen. She married George E. Wagner on Dec. 18, 1933, in Galena, Ill. He died April 18, 1995.

Survived by two sons, Jack of Detroit and Ed of Waterloo; a daughter, Darlene Wagner of Waterloo; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a grandson, Bill Wagner; two brothers, Jack and Leland Jochumsen; and two sisters, Glatha Drace and Irvia Ferguson.

Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Edward Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice.

Maxine was a champion bowler, placing second in the national tournament in doubles. At one time, she bowled a near perfect game (nine strikes and one spare). She made more than 500 quilt tops for the Cedar Valley Quilt Guild; was a member of the Waterloo Art Association; played organ for St. John’s Catholic Church; and taught art at St. Nicholas Catholic School, Evansdale.
