WATERLOO — Marian Janice Kopf, 89, formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, April 22, 2013, at Exira Care Center, Exira.

She was born Dec. 7, 1923, at her parents’ home in Buena Vista County near Marathon, daughter of Fred and Alta Runyan Schuler. In March 1948 she married J. Russell Kopf in Waterloo. He died in 1969.

Mrs. Kopf graduated from Marathon Community Schools in 1941, then moved to Waterloo and was employed as a clerk at a pharmacy for a short time. In 1943 she began working at the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works, where she retired as a general foreman secretary in 1983. She had been a member of Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church.

Survived by a son, Tom (Ann) of Hutchinson, Minn.; a daughter, Deb (Steve) Nelson of Exira; five grandchildren; two sisters, Marge Bussey of Laurens and Ruth Ransom of Waterloo; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Schuler of Waterloo; and a brother-in-law, Marvin Ferguson of Laurens.

Preceded in death by two grandchildren; five brothers, Lee, Clifford, Kenny, Bill and Dick Schuler; and three sisters, Jeane Graham, Barbara Grice and Sally Ferguson.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at Katherine Graham Pahl Memorial Chapel at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in the cemetery. Kessler Funeral Homes Inc., Audubon, is in charge of arrangements.
