LAMB, BARBERON, BEEKLEY, BAUMAN, BATES

James Edwin Lamb, 92, a resident of Waterloo for more than a half century, died at 5:30 p. m. Friday at his home, 621 Washington Street, victim of an asthma attack and complications incident to advanced age.

Born April 7, 1851, in Canada, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Jason Lamb. When a young child he came with his parents to Dunkerton, la., and later married Helen Barberon Oct. 20, 1875, in Lester Center, la. The couple lived on a farm at Dunkerton until 1890 when they came to Waterloo to reside.

For a number of years, Mr. Lamb was engaged in the contracting and building business. He was a member of First Congregational Church.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Ira Beekley, San Diego, Cal., and Mrs. Zylpha Bauman, Blair, Neb.; two grandsons, Lt. Edwin A. Bates, Fort Stevens, Ore., and Pvt. Ralph H. Bates, Camp Butner, N.C.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a son. Percy E. Lamb, and a daughter. Mrs. Edna M. Bates, who died in 1915.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p. m. Monday at the O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home with Rev. Charles F. Jacobs, pastor of First Congregational Church, officiating.

Burial will be in the family lot at Elmwood Cemetery.

Albert H. Bates, Rockford, Ill., son-in-law of Mr. Lamb, and Lieutenant Bates, who was on leave and visiting in Rockford, arrived Saturday to attend the funeral.
