Edward J. Crawford, 73, of 527 E. Park Ave., died at 5 p. m. Wednesday at Schoitz Memorial Hospital of carcinoma.

He was born on Sept. 1, 1890, in Jo Daviess County, Illinois, the son of John and Isabella McIntyre Crawford.

He married Miss Ella Nissen on April 18, 1925, in Waterloo. She died on April 17, 1938. He had been a resident of Waterloo for the past 42 years and had been employed by the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 23 years, retiring in 1958. Mr. Crawford was a member of the Eagles Lodge.

Surviving are one son, Robert of 2503 Garden Ave., Cedar Falls; two grandsons, Michael and James; one step-sister, Mrs. Ray Smith of Gorden, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his step-mother and three brothers.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a. m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Church. The Rev. Fr. Louis A. Putz, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at the O'Keefe & Towne Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Thursday.
