WATERLOO — Kathleen A. "Kathy" Meinders, 51, of Waterloo, died at home Tuesday Jan. 11, 2005, of cancer.

She was born June 12, 1953, in Waterloo, daughter of Robert E. and Madeline G. Pint Hayes Sr. She married Michael Meinders on Dec. 28, 1974, in Waterloo, at St. Edward Catholic Church.

Mrs. Meinders graduated from Columbus High School in 1971. She attended the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, for two years and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi. She was employed at Hellman Associates Inc. as an Kathleen Meinders assistant controller for 20 years until her illness. She enjoyed reading, woodworking and golfing.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Ben M. of Maplewood, Minn.; a daughter, Alexandra "Ali" Meinders of Waterloo; her father of Cedar Falls; two brothers, Robert E. (Nancy) Hayes Jr. of Cedar Falls and David L. (Patti) Hayes of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and four sisters: Barbara L. Hayes of Fort Collins, Colo., Judy K. O'Connor of Waterloo, Nancy J. Whittemore of Newhall, Calif, and Holly M. (Nick) Haaf of Southlake, Texas.

Preceded in death by her mother.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday at St. Edward's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery both in Waterloo. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, with a 7 p.m. vigil service.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.

Kathy will be missed by all who knew her.
