WATERLOO — Walter S. Wood, 97, of Waterloo, died Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.

He was born March 1, 1907, in Birling, Kent, England, son of Walter and Amelia Tomlin Wood. He married Leola M. Sanderson Nov. 3, 1928, in Sioux City. She died Nov. 24, 1991.

He attended Irving School and Sloan Wallace Junior High School. Mr. Wood worked in the
foundry at John Deere, retiring in 1967.

Survivors include a son, Stanley (Rose Marie) of Waterloo; a daughter, Betty (William) Biemann of Waterloo; a son-in-law, Allen (Judy) Wrage of Waterloo; 14 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Wrage; a grandson; a great-granddaughter; three brothers, Tom, Len and Ted Wood; and three sisters: Ada MacDonald, Elsie Hagen and Ruby Jolls.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), with burial in Elmwood Cemetery Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today with a time of family reflection at 7 p.m. at Locke Funeral Home.
