WATERLOO — Lydia Schneider, 84, of Waterloo, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at her home of natural causes.

She was born May 25, 1917, in Bremer County, daughter of August and Christine Kreb Leistikow. She married Paul J. Schneider on July 16, 1935, in Klinger. He died Feb. 28, 1996.

Mrs. Schneider was a custodian for the United Auto Workers Local 838 for seven years.

Survived by a son, Leroy P. of Grinnell; a daughter, Glenyce M. Scherer of Minnetonka, Minn.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Martha Buls of Torrence, Calif., and Gertrude Meyer of Phoenix.

Preceded in death by a sister, Mathilda Schneider.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with burial in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel Downtown, and for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Cedar Valley Hospice.
