Services for J. Saylor Miller, 81, of Friendship Village Retirement Center, will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at City Church of the Brethren with graveside service at 2 p.m. at the English River Church of Brethren Cemetery at South English.

He died Saturday at Allen Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 29, 1895, at Edom, Va., the son of John and Mary Wampler Miller, and married Eva K. Stonner Sept. 5, 1920, at South English. They fanned near South English and near Waverly until 1946 when he went to work for the Chamberlain Corp. in Waterloo. He retired in 1965.

He was-a veteran of World War l and served in France and Germany. While in France he was a member of Gen. Pershing's special guard.

He is survived by two sons, Ray J., of 5825 Hess Rd., and John S. Jr., Rt. 2, LaPorte City, and two brothers, Joe W. of Edem, Va., and George of Bridgewater, Va.

Friends may call at the Parrott & Wood Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be given to the City Church of the Brethren.
