WATERLOO - Mark D. "Lefty" Lyons, 74, of Waterloo, died Monday Jan. 14, 2002, at Allen Hospital of an aortic aneurysm.

He was born July 8, 1927, in Waterloo, son of Mark Leslie and Elizabeth Kemp Lyons. He married Daiiene M. McCunniff on June 16, 1947, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Mr. Lyons was a self-employed milk hauler, for 38 years for MLT Inc., retiring in 1987. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survived by his wife; four sons: Bill of Waterloo, Bob of Aubrey, Texas, Brian of Vinton and Bruce of Lake Villa, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and three brothers, Ken of Waterloo, Don of White Wright, Texas, and Jim of Hiawatha.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Glanville; two grandchildren; and a sister, Jacqueline Sawyer.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a.4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation also for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
