WATERLOO - David Henry Freeland, 79, of Waterloo, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes.

He was born Nov. 26, 1922, in Waterloo, son of Lester and Lena Kingery Freeland. He married Maxine Campbell on Dec. 6, 1945, in Waterloo.

Mr. Freeland was employed as a truck driver for Means Clean Towel Service for 10 years, retiring in 1984. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Darrell of Victorville, Calif., and Gerald of Attalla, Ala.; two grandchildren, a stepgrandson and two stepgreat-grandsons; a brother, Donald of Wilmington, Del.; and three sisters, Darleen Hoeg of Independence, Vickie Atkins of Cedar Falls and Doreen Freeland of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a sister, DenaSmuck.

Services: 1 p.m. Thursday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with burial in Garden of Memories. Military rites will be conducted by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today and for an hour before services Thursday at the chapel.
