WATERLOO - Phyllis Boyd, 83, of New Braunfels, Texas, formerly of Waterloo, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002 of natural causes.

She was born May 16, 1918, in Houston, daughter of Joel and Inez E. Roberts. She married Burr Boyd on Nov. 22, 1945, in Cedar Rapids. He died Nov. 4, 2001.

Mrs. Boyd received a bachelor's degree from Coe College, Cedar Rapids, where she majored in English and piano. She began her teaching career in Maynard and taught for many years in the Waterloo Community School District. She also was church organist in Sumner.

Survived by four daughters: Linda Johnson of Canyon Lake, Texas, Diane Stensrud of Davenport, Nancy deBove of Barcelona, Spain, and Susan Dodson of Page, Ariz.; two sons, Allen R. of Shell Rock and John M, of Ankeny; 12 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter; a sister, Miriam Overly of Cedar Rapids; and a brother, William J. Rogers of Cedar Rapids.

Memorial services were today at Church in the Valley Canyon Lake, Texas. Additional services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Cedar Rapids. Joint inurnment services for Mr. and Mrs. Boyd will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Puente & Sons Funeral Chapels, New Braunfels, is in charge of arrangements.
