Hershell K. Leibundguth, 86, of Hudson, died Saturday, April 24, 1999, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

He was born March 23, 1913, in La Plata, Missouri, son of Fred M. and Maude Bell Bowen Leibundguth. He married Geraldine Saffell November 13, 1936, she died in 1959.

Mr. Leibundguth was a retired farmer and auctioneer.

He is survived by two granddaughters, Christy Liebundguth of Grimes and Elizabeth Leibundguth of Cedar Falls; and a brother, Fred of La Plata.

He was preceded in death by a son, Jerry.

ST. ANSGAR — A light plane containing four Cedar Falls men crashed during take-off from a drive-in movie here late Friday night.

The only injury reported was slight facial cut on one of the passengers. The plane, owned by H. K. Leibundgulh, Cedar Falls, had considerable damage, according to Harlan Anderson, owner of the Bel-Air Drive In.

The mishap occurred when the undercarriage of Ihe plane struck some low telephone wires about 50 feet off the end of the runway and fell in an adjoining corn field.

A ramp for planes al the drive-in movie was opened by Anderson three weeks ago. The planes land on a 1,500-foot strip next lo the drive-in and then taxi to the special ramp which has been outfitted wilh loud speakers. The regular drive-in theater for cars has been open for 10 years. It is located west of St. Ansgar on Highway 105.
