WATERLOO — David R. Grubb, 56, of Elkhart, formerly of Waterloo, died Friday, April 12, 2013at Mercy Hospice, Johnston.

He was born July 14, 1956, in Waterloo, son of Robert and Jeananne Cromer Grubb. He married Sheryl Arnold on Nov. 15, 1980, in St. Joseph, Mo.

Mr. Grubb graduated from Waterloo Central High School in 1975 and from Buena Vista College in 1979. He taught and coached in many middle and high schools throughout Kansas, New Mexico and Iowa. He became the assistant football coach at Grandview College, Des Moines, a position he held at the time of his death.

Survived by his wife; his mother and stepfather, Robert Tharp of Waterloo; three sons: Douglas Arnold and Steve (Amy) Grubb, both of Des Moines, and Scott Grubb of Elkhart; two daughters, Tara (Joe) Ingersoll of Polk City and Jamee (Jon) White of Elkhart; a brother, Gerry of Des Moines; a sister, Chris (Todd) Swacker of Waterloo; three grandchildren, Mahliah, Braedon and Brianna Ingersoll; and a niece, Tessa Swacker.

Preceded in death by his father and grandparents.

Memorial services: 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, preceded by an hour of visitation, with inurnment in Garden of Memories Cemetery. His body was cremated. The Kearns Huisman-Schumacher Chapel assisted the family.

Dave never met a person he did not like, and anybody who met him liked him.
