George Vognsen

George was born October 12, 1930, in Gilman, Wisconsin, the son of Chris and Jennie Marie (Grarup) Vognsen. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1948 and went on to serve his Country in the United States Army.

On June 11, 1955, he was united in marriage to Patricia S. Ryan at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls. He was a postal clerk with the United States Post Office in Cedar Falls for 31 years, retiring in 1986.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia of Cedar Rapids; two sons and their wives, Brian and Tammy Vognsen of Shawnee, KS and David and Evone Vognsen of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Nancy Kagan and her husband, Albert of Fargo, North Dakota and Susan Vognsen of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren, A.J. Kagan, Robert Kagan, Logan Kagan, Meaghan Kagan, Jennafer Kagan, Joshua Vognsen, Maria Vognsen, Kayla Vognsen and Kyle Vognsen; two brothers, Chris Vognsen of Cedar Falls and Lester Vognsen and his wife, Letty of Wesley Chapel, FL and two sisters, Helen Hahn of Cedar Falls and Myrna Hahn and her husband, Kenny of Columbus, GA.

George died Tuesday, April 08, 2003, at his home in Cedar Rapids from complications of multiple sclerosis.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ruth Timmer.
