Clare R. Rampton

Clare was born December 19, 1924, in Dysart, Iowa, the son of Fred and Wilhelmine A. (Cold) Rampton. He served his Country in the United States Army during World War II. He then went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Pacific in 1950 in Stockton, CA.

On July 27, 1957, he was united in marriage to Angela M. Kerr in Houston, TX. He was sports announcer for KTUR Radio in Turlock, CA from 1949-50, then sports director for KWWL Radio and TV in Waterloo, IA from 1950-56 and finally was with the Rath Packing Company in Waterloo in the sales and promotion department, retiring in 1984. He was the voice of the Northern Iowa Panthers football and basketball teams with various stations from the 1950's thru the early 1990's, was Voice of the Grounds and Master of Ceremonies at McIlroy Auditorium for the Cattle Congress for 13 years, was MC of the Northeast Iowa Sports Show of 25 years and currently served as announcer for the Christian Crusaders Radio Ministry for over 25 years.

He is survived by his wife, Angela of Cedar Falls; three sons: Scott of Seattle, WA, Lance (Barb) of Madrid, IA and Todd (Jada) of Cleveland, OH; seven grandchildren, Tyler, Becky, Erin, Grant, Tucker, Audrey and Jessie; brother, James Rampton of Naperville, IL and sister, Marjorie Talbot of LaQuinta, CA.

Clare died Monday, June 2, 2003, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home of cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard Rampton.
