LUKES, CISAR, THIERMAN, HANSEN, VATTHAUER

Services for August J. Lukes, 83, of 155 Cornwall Ave., will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at Kimball Avenue United Methodist Church with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. A public Masonic service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday by Martin Lodge No. 624 A. F. and A. M. at the Parrott and Wood Funeral Home Chapel where the family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Other visitation is from 8 a.m. until noon Monday at the funeral home and for one hour before services at the church.

He died Saturday morning at Schoitz Medical Center.

Mr. Lukes was born Aug. 28, 1900, in Protivin, the son of Ferdinand and Elizabeth Cisar Lukes. He married Mildred Thierman June 25, 1950, in Waterloo.

He was a graduate of the University of Iowa with a master's degree in education He taught at Chesterfield and Polo in Illinois. and at Upper Iowa University at Fayette. For 25 years, he taught at East High School, retiring in 1966.

Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Donna Vatthauer of Red Lake Falls. Minn., and Mrs. Debra Hansen of Fairbanks, Alaska: and eight grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the church or the Shrine Crippled Children's Hospital or Burn Center.
