LA PORTE CITY — Madeline Elaine Wellner, 86, of La Porte City, died Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls, of natural causes.

She was born Jan. 8, 1927, in La Porte City, daughter of Floyd and Bernice Robb Friedly. She married Edward Wellner on Oct. 31, 1945, in Virginia.

Mrs. Wellner as a ward secretary for St. Francis Hospital, Waterloo, for 18 years, retiring in 1987.

Survived by her husband; two sons, Richard (Judy) of Louisville, Tenn., and Randy (Karen) of La Porte City; three daughters: Teresa (Harold) Kamback of Jesup, Diane (Randy) Caldwell of Mount Auburn and Lisa (Michael) Chase of Maquoketa; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Don (LaVonne) Friedly of Waterloo; and two sisters, Neva Nerge of Sumner and Corrine (Al) Potter of Torrance, Calif.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Alan and Paul Friedly; and two sisters, Netha Pries and Marge Niesen.

Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, preceded by an hour of visitation, with private family inurnment at a later date in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City. La Porte City Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
