Services for Delbert M. Black, 77, of the Cedar Falls Health Care Center, formerly of 436 Reed St., will be 1:30 p.m. Monday at First Wesleyan Church with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence. He died Thursday afternoon at the care center.

He was born June 20, 1906, at Maquoketa, son of Charles Robert and Daisy E. Smith Black. He married Gladys Elizabeth Miller Jan. 22, 1930, at Independence. She died Jan. 11, 1970.

He was employed as a tool grinder at the John Deere Tractor Works for 28 years, retiring in 1969.

He is survived by a son, Daryl M. Black of El Toro, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Barwick of Lansing and Mrs. Joan Lowe of Waterloo; two brothers, Herschel Black of Independence and Dawson Black of Dallas Center; and 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Chapel of Memories West from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday and at the church from noon until service time.

Memorials may be made to the church.
