Services for Max P. Halpin, 76, of 302 French St., will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church with entombment at Mount Olivet Mastoleum. He died Tuesday at St. Francis Hospital.

He was born Nov. 1, 1906, at Elma, son of Phillip and Johanna Daly Halpin. He married Gladys Steinmetz Aug. 8, 1933, at Dakota City, Neb. He was employed as a machinest with John Deere for 36 years, retiring in 1971. He also owned and operated Halpin Barber Shop.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, James of 825 Fletcher Ave. and Larry of 433 Cornwall Ave.; two daughters, Mrs. Pat Snyder of 214 Virden St. and Mrs. Kathy Beckmann of 235 Arden St.; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mrs. Jane Johnson, Miss Verne Halpin and Mrs. Cleo O'Day, all of Waterloo.

Friends may call any time at Oppold Funeral Home, where a senior citizens rosary will be at 3 and a Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday. A Scripture service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to Columbus High School.
