CEDAR FALLS - Memorial services for Arthur Olsen, 71, of Oakland, Calif., formerly of Cedar Falls and La Porte City, will be Friday In Oakland. His body was cremated. Mr. Olsen died of a heart attack Monday at his home.

He was born July 7, 1910, at Cedar Falls, son of Wilhelm and Anna Olsen.

He married Norma Bragstad June 4, 1936, at Canton, S.D. He was a 1932 graduate of the University of Northern lowa, and formerly was a coach and principal in the La Porte City school system. He served in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He moved to California in 1944 and was head counselor for Oakland High School, retiring in 1970 because of ill health.

The Olsens' daughter, Zoe Ann, was a child swimming star in Northeast Iowa before going to the West Coast, where she was coached by both parents and became one of the outstanding diving stars in the country. She was a national diving champion and was runner-up in the 1948 Olympics in London.

Survivors include his wife of 919 McKinley Ave., Oakland; a daughter, Zoe Ann Bramham of Crystal Bay, Nev.; three grandchildren; and two brothers, Herlov Olsen of 1127 Grant Ave., Waterloo, and Harry Olsen of Wadena.

Memorials may be made to the Heart Fund.
