Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p. m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Methodist church for Henry F. Herbsleb, 87, of 418 Broadway, a Past Commander the United Spanish American War Veterans, who died at his home of a heart condition 4:45 p. m. Saturday.

Mr. Herbsleb was the commander of Fred Willier Post No. 11 of the United Spanish War Veterans. He was the youngest Spanish American War veteran in Waterloo.

The Rev. James W. Fouk, pastor, will officiate at the funeral services. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Becker Chapman Post No. 38 of the American Legion will present full military rites. Friends may call at the Chapel of Memories East until noon Tuesday.

He was born Dec. 13, 1878, at Menominee, Ill., the son of John S. and Mary Brinkman Herbsleb.

He married Ella Florence Roberts on Feb. 26, 1901, in Galena, Ill. He came to Waterloo in 1912 and worked for the John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works from 1928 until his retirement in 1952.

He was a member of St. Paul's Methodist church and Fred Willier Post No. 11 of the Spanish American War Veterans. For more than 55 years he was a member of Black Hawk Lodge No. 72 of the Odd Fellows, of which he was a past Noble grand. He was a member of the Temple of Rebekah No. 54 and of the Good Samaritan Club.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Marguerite Peterson of 418 Broadway; Mrs. Cylinda Sherwood King of Creve Coew, Ill; three sons: Harry of Jesup; Alfred of 1719 Huntington Road, and Kenneth, of 2014 Valley Park Drive, Cedar Falls; nine grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1957 and by his parents; one daughter, two brothers and two sisters.
