MELVIN W, CAIN

Over-exertion from shoveling snow at his home was blamed Tuesday for the death of Melvin W. Cain, 52, of 132 Summit Ave. Mr. Cain died about. 6:30 p.m. Monday of a heart attack. The fire department inhalator squad was summoned. Firemen administered oxygen for 30 minutes but could not revive him.

He was born Aug. 27, 1905, at Denver, Iowa, the son of Roy and Bell Cain. He married Mary Burman at Eldora, Oct. 20, 1926.

Mr. Cain had lived in Waterloo for 26 years after coming here from Waverly. He had been employed in the dry cure department of the Rath Packing Co. for 15 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Calvary Evangelical United Brethren Church.

Survivors include his wife; one brother, Earl Cain, 114 Adams St.; one sister, Mrs. Jack Davis, 1022 Jefferson Street; and his mother, also resideing at 1022 Jefferson Street.

Mr. Cain was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral services are pending at Chapel of Memories.

Funeral services for Melvin W. Cain, 52, of 132 Summitt Ave., who died at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday of a heart attack, while shoveling snow, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Calvary Evangelical United Brethren Church by the Rev. R. C. Pfalzgraff and the Rev. J. A. Haehien, former pastor. The body is at the Chapel of Memories. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories.
