Services for Dr. Bernard M. Nickels, 69, of 660 Hilltop Road, will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Edward's Catholic Church with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Mr. Nichels died Friday, Oct. 10, 1986, at Allen Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 20 1917. in Oelwein, son of Peter and Christina Tschepa Nickels. He married Lorraine Kammerer Aug. 28, 1948, in Rock Island, Ill. He graduated from Logan Chiropractic College in St. Louis in 1948. He practiced in Waterloo until his death. He served in the Pacific Theatre during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Penny Slaughter of Waterloo, two granddaughters; a brother, Edward of Waterloo; and a sister, Mrs. Irene Barker of Norfolk, Va.

He was preceded in death by four sisters and a half brother.

Friends may call at O'Keefe & Towne-Carter & Waychoff Funeral Home after 2.30 p.m. today, where there will be a Knights of Columbus rosary at 3 p.m. and a parish Scripture service at 7 p.m.
