Mrs. Ella Gertrude De France, 87, formerly of Waterloo, died at 11:45 a. m. Saturday at the Christi Convalescent home, Cedar Falls, where she had been a patient for the past 10 days. Prior to that she had been a patient at the Miller Convalescent home. 904 Hammond avenue, Waterloo.

She was born as Ella Gertrude Quintard, in Ohio, on Feb. 18. 1857. daughter of Cyrus and Sarah Quintard. When she was a young girl she came west from Ohio with her parents, who settled at Toledo,, la.

On May 18, 1876. she was married to Frank De France at Toledo. They had been divorced for the past 30 years.

Surviving are one son. Harry J. DeFrance, Dubuque, la.: two daughters, Mrs. Edith Beightol. 645 Riehl Street, and Mrs. Ruby Stover, 1433 Forest Avenue: one brother.
Elmer Quintard, Sioux City. la.; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

The body was taken to Kearns Garden Chapel.
