Bernice H. Holtzman, 81, of Waterloo died today [September 01, 2007] at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born June 22, 1926, in Waterloo, daughter of Alfred and Josephine Traidel Straus.

She married Elmer Holtzman on March 17, 1946, in Kansas. He died on January 18 1997.

Survivors include a son Jerry Holtzman of Waterloo, two daughters, Linda ( Jack) Buehner of Cedar Falls, and Patricia ( John ) Niska, of Ankeny; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren with one on the way; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Holtzman of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Karen Dillavou; two brothers, Victor and Donald Straus; two sistersm Gertrude Taylor and Marion Fischels.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4 unti 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation will continue for one hour before services at the church on Wednesday. Prior to Bernices illness she loved walking and playing Bingo.
