Anna Mae Gerst, 72, of Waterloo died Friday, February 2, 2007, at her daughters home in Dysart of natural causes.

She was born November 19, 1934 in Lost Nation, the daughter of Earl and Erma Kuhlmann Stanton.

She married Daniel Gerst on June 5, 1975, in Prairie Du Chien, WI. He died January 1, 1993.

Mrs. Gerst worked at Sherwin Williams and later retired from Iowa Northland Regional Council of Governments in 1993. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxilliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1623 where she served as treasurer for 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and loved playing cards.

Survivors include her daughter, Lisa (Lee) Pauling of Dysart; two grandchildren, Ashley of Cedar Falls and Austin of Dysart; one sister, Lola (Richard) Demoss of Lost Nation; one brother, Richard (Karen) Stanton of Richmond, MO; five step-sons as well as many nieces nephews and friends.

Preceded in death by her husband; parents; one step-son and a niece.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with burial in the Waterloo Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4 until 8:00 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 6 p.m. VFW Auxilliary Memorial Service. Visitation will continue for one hour before services on Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
