Arnold P. Minikus, 88, of Waterloo, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Sunday, May 17, 2009, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

He was born September 14, 1920 in Cedar Falls, the son of George and Julia (Hart) Minikus.

Arnold married Kathryn Roark on February 8, 1946 in New Hampton, Iowa. She preceded him in death on September 7, 1970. He married Eva Headrick Gate on June 14, 1974 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Cedar Falls. Arnold served with the US Army in the European Theatre of Operations during WW II. He worked for Cedar Falls Utilities for over thirty years, retiring in 1982.

Survivors include his wife, Eva, of Waterloo; three daughters, Diann Blitsch of Oelwein, Iowa, Teresa Corwin of Cedar Falls and Sharon (Ken) Loftus of Evansdale, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and family friends.

Arnold was preceded in death by his parents and first wife; a son, Donald Minikus; four brothers: Ray, Floyd, Lester and Donald Minikus, and four sisters: Alice Bell, Anna Morris, Ida Roberts and Frieda Minikus in infancy.

Services will be 10:30 am Friday, May 22, 2009, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with burial at Greenwood Cemetery, both in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be 5—8:00 pm Thursday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, where a 5:00 pm Rosary Service and a 7:00 pm Vigil Service will be conducted. Visitation also one hour before service at the church. Military honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49.

A memorial fund will be established at a later date.
