WATERLOO — Karen Joyce Roeding, 73, of Waterloo, died at home Wednesday, March 13, 2013, of natural causes.

She was born Oct. 1, 1939, in Waterloo, daughter of John and Ethel Pitts Thill. She married William Roeding on March 14, 1959, and they later divorced.

Ms. Roeding graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1957 and worked a variety of jobs throughout her life.

Survived by three sons: Michael (Gail) of Waverly, Carl (Lisa) of Reinbeck and Arthur (Lauren) of West Des Moines; four daughters: Kimberly (Paul) Troxell of Freeport, Ill., Karla (Matthew) Theriac of Macon, Mo., Sara Roeding (Brian Gorman) of Waterloo and Dora (Travis) Seliger of Evansdale; 10 grandchildren, James, Travis, John, Matthew, Jordan, Tammy, Jessica, Jenna, Emily and Abigail; three brothers: Frank and Lenny Thill and Tim Westeregreen; six sisters: Deloris Beck, Mary Weber, Judy Sommerfelt, Janelle Herrmann, Jan Becker and Cindi Gilbert; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Dora Schmidt and Michelle “Micky” Willingham.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday and for an hour before services on Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to charity of donor’s choice.

Karen will be fondly remembered as “Aunt KJ” to her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed watching Iowa Hawkeye sports.
