Parker M. Lichty Dies At Age 66

Longtime Business Man Orange Native

Parker M. Lichty, 66, of 420 Sheridan Rd., died at Schoitz Memorial Hospital Monday at 7:45 a. m. of cancer following a two-month illness.

A long-time Waterloo business man, Mr. Lichty was born Aug. 25, 1900, in Orange Township, son of Elmer M. and Emma Miller Lichty, his father being a state representative many years.

He attended Orange Township schools and married Madeline Schnell Oct. 1, 1924, at Dysart.

Mr. Lichty operated the Lichty Oil Station at the corner of 5th and South Streets. since 1923 and for 35 years had been a real estate developer. He also held the franchise for the Dog 'N' Suds drive-in restaurant at 921 Broadway.

He was a member of First Congregational Church, Waterloo Rotary Club, Elks Lodge 290, and Sunnyside Country Club.

Surviving besides his widow are two daughters, Mrs. Milton Hansen, 330 Columbia Circle and Mrs. Linda Ross, 238 Palmer Dr., and three sisters: Mrs. Lester Parris, of Hudson, Mrs. Dayton Klepinger, of Neosho, Mo., and Mrs. Earl Stouffer, Oak Park, Ill.

Also surviving are two brothers, Clark Lichty, a member of the county board of supervisors who lives in Orange Township, and Ed, of 609 Hammond Ave., along with one grandson and two granddaughters.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends who wish may contribute memorials to American Cancer Society, Black Hawk County Chapter. Arrangements for funeral services are pending at the Parrott & Wood Funeral Home, the time ot visitation to be announced later.

PARKER M. LICHTY

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the First Congregational Church for Parker M. Lichty, 66, of 420 Sheridan Road, Waterloo businessman and real estate developer, who died at 7:45 a.m. Monday at Schoitz Memorial Hospital. The Rev. Charles Jacobs pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery

Friends may call at the Parrott & Wood Funeral Home until 11 a.m. Wednesday and a the First Congregational Church from 12:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m The casket will not be opened following services.

Mr. Lichty had been ill for two months. Death was due to cancer.
