RIDE ON RENTED CYCLE IS FATAL

Services for a 16-year-old girl killed while riding on a rented motorcycle here Sunday are pending at the Kearns-Dykeman Chapel in Waterloo.

Dead is Linda Lee Foster, daughter of Molly Foster, 946 Lowell Ave., Waterloo, and Virgil Foster, 601 Home Acres, Evansdale.

The girl had been riding on a motorcycle driven by Gary Hilmer, 16, Brandon, when the couple stopped along Hwy 150 inside the Independence city limits.

Authorities said when Hilmer pulled back onto the highway, the girl fell off the motorcycle and was run over by a truck driven by Daniel Montague, 18, Cedar Rapids. The accident happened about 4:45 p.m. Sunday. They said the accident was still under investigation Monday.

Miss Foster had been staying for the past three days with foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Kearns, La Porte City. She would have been a sophomore at La Porte City High School.

The girl had lived with the Glen Heckroths, Rt. 2, Cedar Falls, for three years.
