CEDAR FALLS - Joyce L. Northey, 85, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo.

She was born Feb. 24, 1920, near Jesup, daughter of Ralph L. and Mayme Hallman Edgerton. She married Gilbert H. Northey on Aug. 6, 1942, in Midland, Texas. He died March 6, 2001.

Mrs. Northey taught school in Summers and West Branch. She was a member of Cedar Heights Presbyterian Church, Cedar Heights Flower and Garden Club, and the Cedar Falls Womans Club. Recently she was recognized in her role as bride in the Cedar Heights/Cedar Falls union reunion.

Survivors include four sons: Steven and Nathan (Larel), both of Waterloo, Thomas of Cedar Falls and Daniel (Rosamaria) of Des Moines; a daughter, Mary (Shane) Sullivan of Ulysses, Kan.; eight grandchildren, Erika (Jeff) Lantz, Chad (Olivia) Northey, Matthew (Tammi) Northey, Jessica and Jennifer Northey, and Amanda, Sarah and Josh Sullivan; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jeannette Caster of Jesup.

Preceded in death by a son, Norman.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Heights Presbyterian Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home.
