CEDAR FALLS — Harriet Congdon, 99, of Cedar Falls, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Windhaven Assisted Living Center, Cedar Falls.

She was born July 27, 1913, in Traer, daughter of James and Christine Vogt Hartshorn. She married Russell Congdon on June 4, 1938, in Traer. He died Sept. 20, 2001.

Mrs. Congdon graduated from Traer High School in 1932 and attended Iowa State Teachers College for two years. She taught for one year in a country school near Traer and then taught for three years in the Traer school system. She was a partner in Congdon Printing and retired in 1996. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church Women, UNI Presidents Club, and Soroptimus Club.

Survived by two sons, Ralph (Marcia) of Davenport and Richard (Rita) of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren, Craig Congdon, Christopher (Lisa) Congdon, Noelle (Bryan) Stow, Todd (Ahreum Han) Congdon, Jenifer (James) Barry, and Joel (Sarah) Congdon; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters: Margaret Marshall, Elizabeth Keith and Agness Wells.

Services: 10:30 a.m. March 23 at First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Buckingham Cemetery near Traer. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, with a 7 p.m. prayer service.

Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church, Western Home Communities, or the Cedar Falls Historical Society.
