WATERLOO — Gary N. Doering, 76, of Waterloo, died at home Monday, March 4, 2013, of natural causes.

He was born Sept. 21, 1936, in Hubbard, son of Hank and Sue Reece Doering. He married Karen Thompson on May 11, 1963, in Preston, Minn.

Mr. Doering was employed by John Deere & Co. for 42 years, retiring in 1997. He then worked at Diedrichs & Associates as the senior lead mechanic for 11 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Scott (Bonnie) Zegarac of Cedar Falls and Mark Doering of Waterloo; two daughters, Diana (Greg) Reiter of Waterloo and Cathy (Kim) Wrage of Hudson; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Amos (Josephine) of Connecticut; and a sister, Helen Reynolds of Connecticut.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Buddy and Bob; and a sister, Ruth Smuck.

Services: 11 a.m. Monday at Garden View Chapel Funeral Home, where visitation begins at 9 a.m., with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19, Evansdale AMVETS Post 31 and the Navy Funeral Honors Detail.
