Funeral arrangements are pending at the Chapel of Memories for John W. Spooner, 74, a former Waterloo resident, who died about 11 a.m. Friday at his home in Fosston, Minnesota, of complications incident to advanced age. The body will arrive in Waterloo tonight.

Mr. Spooner was born August 9, 1885, in Luverne, Iowa, the son of William and Lydia Priest Spooner. In 1915 he married Mary Spooner, who preceded him in death in 1929. He married Mabel Guptill in 1933.

Mr. Spooner lived for the past year in Fossston. He was a former resident of Janesville and was employed by the Rath Packing Co. for 17 years until he retired in 1945.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Harold Spooner, 1722 Baltimore St., and Homer Spooner, Falls Ave. Trailer Ct.; three daughters: Mrs. H. M. Robinson, Phoenix, Arizona; Mrs. Lester Howard, Janesville, and Mrs. Jack Lange, Lengby, Minnesota; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond and Ernest Spooner, both of Storm Lake, and a sister, Mrs. Elsie Sullivan, Greensburg, Indiana.

Funeral services for John W. Spooner, 74, a former Waterloo resident, will be at 2 p. m. Tuesday at the Chapel of Memories. Mr. Spooner died at his home in Fosston, Minn., Friday of complications incident to advanced age.

The Rev. John M. Alby, of Grace Brethren Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Spooner was preceded by his parents, his first wife, seven brothers, three sisters and one daughter.
