Joseph Hillsman, 88, of 1009 Riehl St., died Sunday at 4:05 a.m. at the Woodlawn Convalescent Home of complications of advanced years.

He was born February 14, 1875, at East Troy, Wisconsin, the son of Ignat and Mary Karn Hillsman.

He married Mary Zeien on October 22, 1901, at North Washington. They farmed in that area until retiring in 1935 when they moved to Waterloo. Mr. Hillsman was a member of Blessed Sacrament church.

Surviving are his widow and four daughters: Mrs. Callus Heit of Charles City; Mrs. Alice White of Chicago; Mrs. Eveoul Bonfig of Ionia and Louise Hillsman at home; six sons: Frank of 930 Dawson St.; Art of 911 Leavitt St.; Ray of San Francisco; Ralph of Chicago; Ed of Des Moines; Vince of Houston, Texas; sixteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Frank of Alta Vista; Charlie of Elma; four sisters: Mrs. John Adams of 408½ Fowler St.; Miss Ida Hillsman of Alta Vista; Mrs. Frank Hentges of New Hampton; Mrs. Ben Gebel of Alta Vista.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Wihelminia in 1932; three sons in infancy, one sister and two bothers.

Funeral services will be at 10 a. m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Church with the Rev. Fr. Louis Putz, pastor, officiating. Friends may call at the Oppold Funeral Home.

Rosary services will be at 8 p. m. Monday and at 8 p. m. Tuesday by the parish, at the Oppold Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Joseph Hillsman, 88, of 1009 Riehl St., who died Sunday morning, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Church with the Rev. Louis Putz, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Rosary services will be by the parish at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Oppold Funeral Home.
