MARY E. HILLSMAN

Mary Elizabeth Hillsman, 88, of 1009 Riehl St., died at 5 a. m. Monday morning at St. Francis Hospital of complications of age. She had been a patient there since May 17.

She was born Feb. 2, 1879, at North Washington, the daughter of Tom and Anna Zeien. She was married to Joseph Hillsman on Oct. 22, 1901, at North Washington.

She moved to Elma in 1918, then to Waterloo in 1937, where she has since made her home. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Waterloo.

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Callus Heit of Charles City. Mrs. Alyce White of Chicago, Mrs. Evroul Bonfig of Ionia, and Louise Hillsman at home, and six sons: Frank and Art of Waterloo. Ray of San Francisco, Ralph of Chicago, Ed at home, and Vince of Houston.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1963, and by her parents.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The mass will be said by a grandson. Rev. Gordon Hillsman of St. Jude Catholic Church of Cedar Rapids, assisted by Rev. Louis Putz. pastor of Blessed Sacrament. Rosary services will be at 7:30 p. m. Tuesday at Oppold Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Funeral services for Mrs. Joseph Hillsman, 88, of 1009 Riehl St., who died Monday morning will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Gordon Hillsman, a grandson and assistant pastor of St. Jude's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. A parish rosary service will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Oppold Funeral Home.

Surviving in addition to those named earlier are 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
