Miller Mikkelsen, Jr., 89, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, March 5, 2005, at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls.

Miller was born March 5, 1916 in Grundy County, Iowa, the son of Miller Mikkelsen, Sr. and Elvira (Johansen) Mikkelsen. He attended Fredsville country school and served in the U.S. Army during WW II.

Miller married Evelyn Frahm on October 5, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois. He farmed in Black Hawk County for 30 years, retiring in 1976. He was a member of the Danish Brotherhood, Dike American Legion Post 471 and Fredsville Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn, of Cedar Falls; his children, Linda Kuhn and Craig Miller Mikkelsen, both of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren, Kendra Kuhn of Bettendorf and Brenton (Melissa) Kuhn of Parkville, Missouri; a great-grandson, Hayden Samuel Kuhn of Parkville, Missouri; and two sisters, Edna Wiley of Ft. Myers, Florida and Esther (Walter) Sherman of Northbrook, Illinois.

Miller was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Elmer Mikkelsen and a sister, Alpha Berning.

Memorial services were 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at Fredsville Lutheran Church, with inurnment at Fredsville Lutheran Cemetery, both in rural Cedar Falls. Military rites will be conducted by Dike American Legion Post 471.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Fredsville Lutheran Church Tree Project.
