Virgil E DeBoer, 86, of Cedar Falls, died Tuesday, February 14, 2006, at the Cedar Falls Health Care Center.

He was born May 5, 1919 at Dexter, Minnesota, the son of Estert and Anna (Lindberg) DeBoer. Virgil married Donna Schneiderman on October 1, 1950 at the Little Brown Church, near Nashua, Iowa.

He served with the US Army from September 29, 1939 to September 19, 1945. Virgil farmed for 30 years in Black Hawk County, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49 and St. John Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls.

Survivors include his wife, Donna, of Cedar Falls; a son, Michael DeBoer of Los Angeles, California; two daughters, Marcy (Raldo) Schneider and Patty (Chris) Bolhuis, both of Cedar Falls; seven grandchildren, Jason, Kelly, Kris, Rhonda, Billy, John and Ben; and six great-grandchildren, Jaida, A.J., Rhiannon, Geoffrey, Christopher and Brianna.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Maurice Nielsen and Maynard DeBoer, and Edgar in infancy, and a sister, Gladys Wefel.

Funeral services were 10:00 am Saturday, February 18, 2006, at St. John Lutheran Church, with interment at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens, both in Cedar Falls.
